A day trip filled with culture, museums, Judaism and history.

We head north out of Barcelona to the town of a thousand conquests, Girona, a city built on the main route connecting France and Spain, at the confluence of the Ter and Onyer Rivers, important water sources.

Girona was a flourishing Jewish center in the history of the Jewish community of Spain.  We will walk round the Jewish quarter, and visit the Bonastruc ça Porta, a house that was built by Nachmanides and Rabbi Yitzhak Sagi Nahor, and today is a museum displaying the remains of the community that was active in Spain until the Jewish expulsion in 1492.  There will be some free time to enjoy the town before we travel on to Figueres, the birthplace of the famous surrealist painter Salvador Dali.

We will visit the Theater Museum which the artist established, and enjoy a guided tour with explanations of the artist’s exciting work.  There will be additional free time.
